Retired VJTI Professor and owner of former iconic Marathi eatery 'Dattatraya', Prakash Wagle has gone missing since 27th October evening from Dadar. Wagle has been suffering from Dementia for the last two years. The modest 60 year old eatery serving authentic Marathi fare, that Wagle ran since last two decades before shutting it in 2013 has played host to Late Sena Chief Bal Thackeray, Commerce Minister Suresh Prabhu, Former Loksabha speaker Manohar Joshi and Shrikant Thackeray.

Wagle was going with his wife for an evening walk at Raja Badhe chowk signal when he walked in the other direction and went missing. What followed was an intense search by his family members. His wife Rashmi Wagle informed DNA that CCTV footage in local stations show him walking towards Ashray hotel at around 7 pm after which he goes untraceable. On the same day a VJTI professor informed his family that he was seen near the MNS office in Dadar at around 8: 30 pm. Following which there has been no trace of Wagle.

" He has been suffering from dementia since the last two years. I used to make it a point to put a card with his address details in his pocket. However, on the day he was not carrying it. There was no phone with him either," informed Wagle's wife Rashmi Wagle.

Local police have informed all the whatsapp groups dealing with missing persons to find out whereabouts of Wagle. The missing persons complaint bureau is also working overtime to find him. Hospitals, OPDs and morgues have been informed. Western Railway and Central railway controls and coolie unions have been activated to trace Wagle. Wagle family informed that Wagle's former employer VJTI 's Dean has taken a personal interest in the matter and has informed students to join the search.

" We have also informed police in Kerala and Mangalore where his relatives stay. We are trying everything to trace him. His dementia, lack of identification documents on his person and he not carrying a mobile phone makes it difficult to trace him, " said Suryakant Gaikwad, Senior Police Inspector, Shivaji Park Police Station.

Locals remember Wagle as an affable but gutsy eatery owner who once took on a then local Shiv Sena MLA head on when he tried to convince him in surrendering his buidling for redevelopment to the developer of his choice. He shut his restaurant for two days which led to local dailies annoucing the shutting down of iconic'Dattatraya'. Shiv Sena Chief Bal Thackerey got a heed of this and he personally assured Wagle that the eatery which Thackerey relished won't be shut down without Wagle's will.
