A Pajero car belonging to the former MLA Shyam Sawant has been stolen from the compound his Bhandup residence.

A Pajero car belonging to the former MLA Shyam Sawant has been stolen from the compound his Bhandup residence in wee hours of Sunday morning.

Ritesh Sawant, (son of Shyam Sawant) contesting civic election on Congress I ticket from ward no.111 at Bhadhup (West) said, “The incident took place at around 4.30 am. We have parked our Pajero (MH-06-AS-99) valued at Rs. 23 lakh, in parking lot usually in the compound of Neptune Living Point at LBS Road at Bhandup (West) where we resides. The incident came to light at around 8.30 am when our driver shocked to find that Pajero was not in the parking lot and subsequently informed us. “ said Sawant and added that cash Rs.1.50 lakh, a mobile phone, ATM cars and xerox copies relating to his election also stolen.

On learning the incident, Sawant rushed to the parking lot and shocked to find that broken handle of the car, lying on the ground. Preliminary inquiry with the watchmen realised that some persons came in the premises in wee hours of Sunday and took the car outside the compound, said Sawant and added he had lodged a complaint of theft at Bhandup police station.

“We have sent wireless message regarding details of car all the police stations across Mumbai, Navi Mumbai , Thane and other district police headquarters across the state to trace the Pajero,” said a police officer of Bhandup police station.
