Even as a majority of the people are expected to hit different party hotspots in the city and on the outskirts, there are quite a few who have planned house parties with custom-made menus, instead of ordering food from restaurants.

Thanekars are making a beeline for caterers to be able to offer their guests delicacies suiting their palettes and preferences.

Pokhran Road resident Neha Shukla says, "I have planned a house party for my close friends and family, but I don't want to order food from any restaurant as the taste is repetitive. I have ordered food from Nidhi's Kitchen, which is nearby. I have explained my requirement, something I wouldn't have been able to do if ordering from a restaurant."

Caterers, definitely, aren't complaining. Joydeep Pathak from Gupta Caterers says, "I have received 10 orders for veg as well as non-veg food. We have a comprehensive menu, and our per plate charges range from Rs150 to Rs500, depending on what the client selects. We prepare food as per instructions, eg more or less spicy."

Paneer Butter Masala in veg and Chicken Dum Masala in non-veg are our most popular items, Pathak adds.

"When people are looking for custom-made food, quality and variety is topmost on their mind. Hence, we discuss the party with the client to get an idea about guests, age groups, and accordingly suggest the best-suited items.

Whether its snacks or main course, we keep experimenting and present a lot of options to the client," say Sagar and Kiran Joshi from Joshi's Kitchen Art, which serves Goan, Andhra and South Indian dishes.

"We serve 35-40 exclusive dishes which are not available in market, we are also particular about our packaging. So, when there is an order for dum biryani, we make sure the layers are not disturbed. For biryanis, we give the client the utensil, which is collected later on."

Spoilt for choice, it's no wonder so many Thanekars are gearing up to ring in the New Year at home with friends and family.
