The last day for the Right to Education (RTE) 25% quota online admission process of form filling for the parents from Economically Weaker Section (EWS) and socially backward section got over on March 2. No verification of documents by guidance centres this year has parents worrying about being rejected by schools easily, claims Anudanit Shiksha Bachao Samiti.

On demand, the date of filling the online admission forms was extended for the parents this year from February 25 to March 2. This year almost 9,482 application were confirmed by the primary education department till 6.30 pm on March 2, which was 6,409 applications last year.

This year the RTE online admission process started much earlier, compared to last year, to help students join the schools from the begining of the academic year.

The first lottery of RTE 25% quota admission will take place on March 6 at 2pm at Dadar Hindu Colony, 4th floor of the BMC education department.

Sudhir Paranjpe, Co-convenor, Anudanit Shiksha Bachao Samiti (ASBS), said, "The experience of parents this year was totally different then last year. Compared to last year, this year the vacancies in schools for RTE admission are less. If this year it is around 8,000 then last year it was 12,000 because last year the entry level was pre-primary section and grade I, but this year all schools have decided only grade I. This year, the parents have grave fear that their applications may get rejected by schools because the parents documents were not getting scanned and uploaded on website and also were not verified by guidance centre. We will wait and watch how the process takes place now."

The ASBS is an organisation that helps EWS and SBS parents help fill the online admission forms of RTE in different areas.
