The fire department on Thursday submitted an affidavit in the Bombay High Court stating that after inspections in areas in Cuffe Parade, it has requested the Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation (MMRC) to remove temporary barricades installed for constructing the Metro-3 line, to aid better movement of emergency vehicles.

Advocate Trupti Puranik, appearing for the corporation, filed the affidavit while hearing the plea of Cuffe Parade resident Robin Jaisinghani, who has claimed that the roads are blocked outside his house, leading to danger in case of emergencies such as fire.

The court had earlier asked the fire department to conduct a survey of the area, following which it submitted the report. As per the survey conducted outside Vivanta by Taj President, Venus, Jupiter buildings and Dalamal House in Cuffe Parade on October 31, the fire department found that the entrance roads to the buildings were accessible.

The fire department has, however, requested the MMRC to remove barricades for easy manoeuvrability of fire appliances in case of emergencies.
