FIR against driver who stripped and assaulted 12-year-old boy

Almost two months after a 12-year-old boy was stripped and beaten in public by a truck driver for allegedly stealing scrap material, the police registered an offence against the driver Santosh Mandavkar.

“Based on the boy’s statement, we’ve registered a case against the driver who is on the run,” said sub-inspector SS Kumbar of Wadala TT police station.

On Tuesday, the police assured the Maharashtra State Commission for Protection of Child Rights that the investigation was on and that the accused would be nabbed soon. 

 The police have registered the offence against Mandavkar under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act 2012. The police said the driver hails from Uttar Pradesh and has been changing his location since a complaint was lodged against him. “We are tracking his call records and will send a team to Uttar Pradesh,” said Kambar.

The boy’s father, Kokan Sardar, said, “My child suffered mental agony. I want the driver punished.”
