The anti-robbery squad of Mumbai crime branch on Friday arrested one Arputraj Nadar, believed to be the mastermind of the Rs6 crore robbery at a Navi Mumbai finance company, which took place on August 6. Based on a tip-off, the police laid a trap and nabbed Nadar from Dharavi.

On August 6 around 3pm, five masked men with pistols entered the premises of the company. They threatened the employees with weapons and robbed Rs9 lakh cash and gold worth Rs6 crore. The robbers allegedly also destroyed the CCTV cameras and took the footage, fleeing in a car. The car was later found abounded in Kalamboli.

While speaking to dna, deputy commissioner of police (crime branch) Shashikant Satav said, "Nadar is suspected to be the main accused. He is a history-sheeter with more than 17 cases of theft registered against him in Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, Thane, Hyderabad and Gujarat. Many more such serious offences are registered against him and he had been on the run for a long time. During interrogation, he gave some crucial information, which will now help us to nab the other accused."

"Nadar has been handed over to the local police for further investigation. It has also come to light that the accused had conducted a recce of the spot and the premises."
