Chief minister Devendra Fadnavis on Tuesday said that with the civil aviation ministry approving revenue sharing model, decks had been cleared for the proposed international airport at Navi Mumbai.

Speaking to media in Nagpur, the chief minister said there was no dispute whatsoever on revenue sharing, an issue which had been pending for the last one year. He said after his government had assumed power, it had followed up the issue with the central government and got it cleared.

With the chief minister revealing that the Rs 14,500 crore project had got revenue sharing clearance, bidders and investor would be able to retain specific share in the revenue generated, and the state would ensure that the revenue from its investment is ultimately utilized for providing services at optimum charges.

Cidco, the nodal agency for the project, had informed the chief minister that the project was getting delayed because a decision on revenue sharing had been pending. The CM said it was natural for investors to keep away as long as the issue of revenue sharing remained undecided.

The CM also said whether to share revenue from core and allied activities would be sorted out in the shared till model. He said that would expedite the project as after the tendering process, the project could be kicked off.

CM optimistic on coastal road project
Recalling that the proposed Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj memorial in Arabian Sea had received fillip with the environment ministry giving it its nod, chief minister Devendra Fadnavis said the environment ministry would clear the coastal road project too in a similar manner. The state would be holding two to three more meetings with Union minister Prakash Javadekar and officials in this regard, he added.
