The Thane Municipal Corporation’s Digicity app, a platform that allows the public access civic services, has failed to generate excitement among the citizens, prompting the corporation to launch a promotion drive.

The mobile application was launched with much fanfare. “In the past one month there have been only 7500 downloads of the app,” said a TMC official. The app which comes bundled with freebies like discounts from eateries, retail shops, spas etc., but has not enticed Thanekars much. “The week the app was launched there used to be 500 downloads daily but then due to lack of publicity there has not been much response from the citizens,” he said.

The app and the website with the same name was launched on January 23 to engage Thanekars with the civic administration.  It keeps the residents updated about various civic developments and information like last date to pay taxes, occupancy certificates, etc. It also has a postpaid digicard which can be used to pay their taxes. In the past one month there have been only 7500 downloads of the app
