The body of a 11-year-old boy was found near the mangroves at Versova creek on Sunday night. The body was found days after the juvenile had left his Juhu home after being scolded by his father for spending excessive time playing, the police said.

Versova Police have registered an accidental death case in this regard and are awaiting a post mortem report.

According to the police, Rishi Waghela was reportedly upset after his father had scolded him for wasting excessive time with friends. On November 22, Rishi had left home and when he was not found around in the locality, his worried parents registered a kidnapping case with Juhu police.

A fisherman spotted the body near the mangroves at Versova creek and informed the police. “We checked missing and kidnapping complaints registered recently and the description of the boy matched with Rishi. Later, his parents also identified the body,” said a police officer.

Paramjit Singh Dahiya, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Zone IX, said, “We have registered an accidental death case. We are probing if it’s a case of suicide or drowning.”
