Father’s friend, three others gang-rape teen in Bhandup

A 15-year-old girl was allegedly kidnapped and gang-raped by four persons on Wednesday for almost 24 hours in a room near Bhandup. The Trombay police have arrested three persons of which one is a friend of the victim’s father.  

The accused have been identified as Aanda Kanpure, Keval Tewar, Sai Batthe, and Bharat Ovhal who is absconding. While Kanpure is a friend of the victim’s father, Tewar and Batthe are college students. 

According to the police, the incident took place on Wednesday evening when the victim was called by Kanpure asking her if she wanted to come out with him for sometime. The victim was not suspicious as Kanpure was her father’s friend. The accused allegedly took the victim to a room in Bhandup where the other three accused were already present. They then kept the victim in the room for 24 hours and gang-raped her one by one. 

On Thursday afternoon the victim somehow managed to flee and reached home when she narrated the incident to her mother. The victim was then immediately rushed to Sion Hospital and her parents approached the Trombay police station. “We managed to arrest the three accused and are on the lookout for the fourth one. Our probe is on to ascertain if it was planned earlier,” said Shahaji Umap, Deputy Commissioner of Police (zone 6).
