After a successful season last year, Kavita Mukhi’s Farmers’ Market returns with its seventh edition

The most talked about organic event in the city—the Farmers’ Market is back with a bang with season 7, conceptualised by eco-nutritionist Kavita Mukhi. The market works fantastically as it allows organic farmers from across Maharashtra to sell their produce. The best part, however, is that this allows visitors to buy certified fruits, veggies and other products that are not only fresh but also 100 per cent organic. The market opened last Sunday and will be open every Sunday until March 20, barring a few days.
The first Sunday of the season saw many people attending the market and trying out various products. Here’s a pick of some of our favourite stalls:
Impossible Foods:
This stall sells whole wheat and whole grain bread, the entire idea being to not have any additives in the food, which means there is no excess salt and sugar and zero oil. The stall owners source raw unprocessed forest honey from tribals in Alibaug, which also helps them sustain their livelihood. Impossible Foods has a set of loyal customers who order bread, cookies, honey, jams, chutney, Roselle syrups and more from them.
Ashika Rosery & Plant Nursery and Amrute’s Centre of Learning:
Shishir Chachad, who belongs to this centre, is originally a consultant to farms across Raigad and Ratnagiri. The idea here is to sell off the surplus that they have. The stall provides organically grown mangoes, cashew nuts, mango pulp and more. Chachad also encourages backyard farming and he especially promotes the same amongst tribal women as it helps them achieve sustainability.
The Farmers’ Market is open on Sundays between 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Bhalla House, 97 Hill Road, Opposite St. Andrew’s Church, Bandra (W). For more information, visit www.farmersmarket.co.in or email farmersmarket@kavitamukhi.com
