Most students who appeared for the JEE Advanced examinations on Sunday thought that the exam was moderately difficult. The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur conducted the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Advanced test online mode in two sessions. The first session was for Paper I which lasted from 9 am to 12 noon and the second session was for Paper II from 2:00pm to 5:00pm.

While most students complained that Paper I was moderately difficult, Paper II was reported to be only quite difficult.

"Chemistry was easy in comparison to the previous 2-3 years. Physics was difficult as there were some lengthy and tricky questions in the paper. Mathematics was moderate. Overall, Paper I was moderately difficult" said Vinay Kumar Rao, MD, Rao IIT.

"There were some questions of chemistry which were numerical questions in paper II which were a little difficult" added Rao.

"I found Paper I comparatively easy. Paper II took some time due to some of the tricky questions in physics," said an aspirant from Mumbai. Of the 2.3 lakh eligible candidates, over 1.65 lakh students appeared for the exam which was conducted only online. 28,813 students appeared from the Mumbai zone. 36 foreign candidates had appeared for the exams this year.

While a centre in Bangalore postponed Paper II by two hours due to a technical glitch, the exam was conducted smoothly in most other centres across the country. Unlike last year, wherein 11 bonus marks had been given to students for 'ambiguous' questions in the paper, there were no such errors reported on Sunday.

Mohit Sardana, Director and Head of Mumbai FIITJEE said, "Overall the exam was easy. Mathematics paper II was on the lengthier side. A stressing factor for students was the increase in the range of integer type questions".
