Mohammad Ismail Anwar Ansari alias Badshah may be shouting hoarse denying his involvement in the rape of a 27-year-old Spanish national in Bandra last month, but the DNA report proves otherwise. Samples of the victim and the alleged accused sent to the Forensic Science Laboratory in Kalina have matched, sources told DNA. The report which establishes Badshah’s guilt was sent to the Bandra police station on Saturday night, according to sources from the forensic lab.

The police are tight-lipped about the report and have refused to divulge more details. “The case is still under investigation and it will be premature to share details considering the seriousness of the case,” said Abhay Shastri, senior police inspector at the Bandra police station.

The police had sent the bed-sheet, the victim’s T-shirt and swab samples of the girl and Badshah for forensic examination. Badshah tried to destroy all evidence, first by asking the girl to take a shower after raping her and then by taking her clothes with him. The clothes have not been found as yet. However, with the DNA samples matching perfectly, the police are hopeful of putting up a strong case against Badshah in court.
