A 23-year-old man working in an ex-MLA's office in Dongri allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself at the office on Friday morning. No suicide note was found on him or at the place.

According to Pydhonie police, Ubed-ul Rehman, a native of Murshidabad in West Bengal, came on Friday morning to open the office located at Khadak area of Dongri. He took the keys of the office from the nearby pan stall where his employer normally keeps them.

Rehman opened the office, locked himself in and around 9.30am hanged himself with a rope from the ceiling fan.

"The matter came to light after the driver of Rehman's employer came to the office and found it locked from inside. He took another set of keys deposited at the pan stall, and on opening the office found Rehman hanging from the fan," said a police officer.

The driver informed his employer, who in turn informed the Pydhonie police about the incident.

"The cause behind the incident is not known. But preliminary probe revealed that Rehman was frustrated because of the regular fights between his wife and his mother who live in Murshidabad," said another police officer.
The police have registered a case of accidental death.
