Engineering student held for molesting classmate

The police have arrested Sandesh Salunkhe, 20, after he allegedly molested his classmate on Wednesday.

According to the police, the victim, 19, a student of an engineering college, was chatting with some of her friends in her classroom. Sandesh, entered the room and molested her in front of everyone.

"Some students from the college caught hold of the accused and handed him over to us.Following a complaint registered by the victim, we later arrested him," said Pramod Pawar, assistant police inspector of Koparkhairane police station.

"We are still not sure about the motive behind the crime. It is not clear whether the accused and the victim were in a relationship earlier. We are now interrogating both the parties to get more details," he added.

The police have booked the accused under sections 354, 506 and 509 of the Indian Penal Code. He was produced before the judicial court on Thursday afternoon.
