EnergyVaasa, the largest energy cluster in the Nordic countries chose 25-year-old engineering student Pentti Itkonen as its energy ambassador. Interacting with media persons on Friday, Itkonen spoke about his interesting global journey from Kittilä in Northern Finland to Norway, the USA, Ecuador, Brazil, Spain, Thailand and India.
Itkonen is spending a week at each of the chosen countries, meeting and influencing the key stakeholders of renewable and green technologies, for which city-based Citec India has been selected as one of the locations in the country. In his journey, Itkonen experiences a project where experts from many countries work together to come up with the best solutions to customer’s needs. Thus, he became specifically more acquainted with one of the waste-to-energy power plant projects designed by Citec. In this project, the customer is from Switzerland and the plant is built in the UK. Itkonen said, “It is amazing to be in India. I have to admit that this has probably been the destination I have been looking forward to, the most.”
Nasir Mulani, managing director of Citec India, said, “It was a great opportunity for Citec to meet the Finnish minister in India and learn about his interests in enhancing Finnish trading with Indian businesses. Indo-Finnish trade definitely has a long way to go.”
In addition to his exposure to Citec as a global company and its energy business in India, Itkonen also got an insight into other aspects of the country.
