An elderly Borivli couple reportedly committed suicide on Thursday evening, by hanging from the ceiling fans at their home. Both their son, Mihir (32), and the daughter-in-law are doctors by profession. The couple also has a daughter, who is married and lives in Dombivli.

The suicide was reported on Thursday around 10pm, when Mihir first saw the bodies hanging by the ceiling fans in the living room. The police also recovered a four-line suicide note, in which the couple mentioned that they were ending their lives because of financial problems and no one should be held responsible for the act. Shah worked in a steel handles manufacturing and production firm in Bhayander, and had been going through a financial crisis for the last few months, said the Borivli police. He had also taken loans that he was unable to repay.
