Eknath Khadse gave false info on purpose, says Radhakrishna Vikhe-Patil

Vikhe-Patil, while presenting the motion, said that Khadse had said during his speech that there were highest number of farmers' suicides in the year 2012. He said that Khadse had presented false information intentionally to paint a false picture.

Alleging that minister for agriculture and rehabilitation Eknath Khadse has provided misleading and false information on purpose, the leader of Opposition, in state assembly, Radhakrishna Vikhe-Patil on Thursday moved a breach of privilege motion against Khadse.

Vikhe-Patil, while presenting the motion, said that Khadse had said during his speech that there were highest number of farmers' suicides in the year 2012. He said that Khadse had presented false information intentionally to paint a false picture.

Vikhe-Patil said that as per government information there have been 1,473 suicides in 2012 while there have been 3,228 farmers' suicides in 2015. Despite this, Vikhe-Patil said, Khadse said that there were maximum suicides in 2012 which was far from reality and misleading the House.

Soon after this motion was moved, chief minister Devendra Fadnavis during his speech admitted that wrong information as passed on to Union government due to some mistake and now revised information was being sent.

Citing the figures from National Crime Records Bureau, Fadnavis maintained that there were maximum suicides in the year 2010 and 2012. He informed that there were 3,228 suicides in 2015, 3,786 suicides in 2012 and 3,141 in 2010. He pointed out that there were 4,453 suicides in 2006, 4,238 in 2007, 4,147 in 2004, 3,337 in 2011 and 3,786 suicides in 2012
