Eight persons, who robbed a jewellery shop in Bhuleshwar on knifepoint, making away with jewellery and cash worth Rs 1.2 crore, after administering chloroform to the staff, have been arrested by the LT Marg police from Goa, Gujarat and Uttar Pradesh.

The accused have been identified as Ripan Patel, Bhavik Panchal, Santosh Chavan, Jigar PAtel, Narendra Jadoun, Dipak Bhadoria, Kallu Sharma and Pankaj Prajapati.

According to police, Patel used to work in the jeweller's shop and he had given the information about the cash and jewellery to Panchal. Following the information, the duo planned the heist and visited the shop twice. The police said, on May 29, following their plan, all the accused, barged into the shop with knives and after administering the staff with chloroform, robbed the jewellery and cash.

Subsequently, a case was registered at LT Marg police station. Patel was questioned over suspicions, during which he spilt the beans.

"While few were hiding in Ahmedabad and Goa, one of the accused had gone to Agra. After arresting Patel, we traced other accused and arrested them as well. We have recovered Rs 90 lakh from them," said Dnyaneshwar Chavan, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Zone II.
