Officers who have investigated cases involving Dawood Ibrahim, underworld don and a global terrorist declared by United Nations, are elated with the fact that their efforts of working hard to find out addresses frequented by Dawood have paid off.

"It takes a lot to garner information and if the information turns out to be wrong then all the efforts go waste. Getting information is quiet tedious and involves a lot of hard work. Our men have spent over two decades to get all these addresses. All this time we have been trying to tell Pakistan that he (Dawood) is there. Now, UN is confirming it. How long can you be in the mode of denial? His addresses were given right from time of 1993 serial blasts," said former Mumbai police commissioner Rakesh Maria.

Maria, who is currently the Director General of Civil Defence and Home Guards, had investigated the 1993 serial blasts when he was posted as a deputy commissioner of police in Mumbai.

Another officer stated that agencies like Intelligence Bureau and Central Bureau of Investigation too worked hard in getting information. "It's a great achievement for the law enforcement agencies which have put in a lot of hard work. Continuous denial of Pakistan has been nullified," he said.

While speaking to dna special public prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam said, "It is very much self-explanatory that Dawood Ibrahim has an active role in setting up a major conspiracy behind the 1993 serial bomb blasts. We expect the same response from Pakistan — they will deny that they have no idea about Dawood's activities in Karachi and Islamabad. The UN committee has given official confirmation about Dawood's presence in Pakistan which the Pakistani officials cannot state as bogus. It is high time for Pakistan to extradite Dawood to India and if they fail to deport him, then we have to raise our voices in the UN."

Nikam added: "We have not yet asked for any action against Dawood from the court after his presence was confirmed by the UN. But in the coming days the court might summon Dawood in Pakistan and also ask that government to deport him to India."

The United Nations Committee has found three out of nine places incorrect as addresses of underworld don Dawood Ibrahim cited by India. The committee has confirmed the other six addresses in the dossier.
