Education department starts career counselling helpline for SSC students

The department recently declared results of the first-ever aptitude test it had conducted for the students. Students can find out their test scores on www.mahacareermitra.in of Shyaamchi Aai foundation and then call up on the helpline for advice.

The state education department on Tuesday started a helpline for Secondary School Certificate (SSC) students to give them career counselling and guidance. There are 30 counsellors available on 8275-100-001 from 10am to 7pm. At a time, 10 counsellors can speak to the students.

The department recently declared results of the first-ever aptitude test it had conducted for the students. Students can find out their test scores on www.mahacareermitra.in of Shyaamchi Aai foundation and then call up on the helpline for advice.

Across Maharashtra, 15,47,825 students appeared for the aptitude test conducted by the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (MSBSHSE). In order to help the students be free for their board examination in March, the state board had asked schools to conduct the online aptitude test between February 9 and 25.

According to the department's statistics on aptitude test results, 2,65,778 students showed interest in the same field. More than 8 lakh students clearly expressed their interest in one field, more than 3 lakh expressed interest in two, more than 1 lakh expressed interest in three fields, more than 74,000 expressed interest in four fields and more than 32,000 expressed interest in all fields.

Education minister Vinod Tawde said, "We have got a good response and many students are happy with this aptitude test. Now, we have decided to give one-on-one career guidance to those who will not be able to pass this March exam. This will be done till July, when exam for the repeaters will be conducted."
