Under its Pragat Shaikshanik Maharashtra (Educationally Progressed Maharashtra) programme to bring in quality education, the state education department has asked schools to send it data of teachers who write blogs, teachers/principals who have made educational app, teachers who have voluntarily sought education-related training, schools that have started active based learning among other such things.
In April, teachers were called to learn how to make use of technology in classrooms while teaching and schools were asked to register themselves as digital schools under the programme.
The south zone education department has now asked schools to send details about whether their school has become digital, active based learning, is ISO 9000 certified, has ever taken help through (Corporate Social Responsibility) CSR activity, the number of teachers who sought training, the number of teachers/principals having an educational app to their credit, the number of teachers writing educational blogs, and the number of teachers having educational videos to their name.
An education official from north zone said, "Since schools were asked to register themselves as digital schools last month, this information is being asked from them to keep a general record of how many have turned digital and how many teachers are technology savvy, and how much of that has improved the quality of education in their school."
