With environmentalists and NGOs spreading the message of eco-friendly Diwali celebration, children too have joined hands for a noiseless and pollution-free Diwali.

Students group from Pokharan and Ghodbunder Road will form a human chain at the end of this week to spread awareness about green Diwali among citizens.

Apart from forming human chain, kids from societies like Garden Enclave, Vedant, Prestige Garden and others have decided to put banners and posters at their society premises and convey the message: No to crackers and opt for eco-friendly Diwali.

Avantika Patel, mother of 11-year-old Roshni: said: "Kids stick to directions and messages given by their teachers. Students have been asked for an eco-friendly Diwali celebration. Hence, my daughter has asked us and other family members not to burst crackers and we will definitely listen to her."

Sajal N Lal, a student of Vasant Vihar School, said: "Our teacher told us that crackers are not safe for our environment and we should say no to it. Last year, I had burnt my hands while bursting crackers, so this year i am saying no to crackers and have also asked my friends to join me in this initiative."

The kids have also planned a door-to-door initiative to explain people about the ill-effects of burning crackers and why it is necessary to say no to crackers.

"The biggest change that could be seen is that kids are being responsible and are taking environment-friendly initiatives. Their thinking has made a big difference and we are sure to achieve a positive result," adds Anubhav Kasar, a senior resident.
