A businessman and his friend were robbed of valuables and cash worth Rs1.31 lakh in Andheri (West) on Monday. According to the Amboli police, who are investigating the case, two unidentified bike-borne men approached them pretending to be policemen and fled with the valuables. The incident happened outside Sundarban Complex off Link Road around 1am.

The 26-year-old victims, Micky Patel, who runs a construction business, and his friend Ashish Sonawne, were sitting outside the complex talking, when a bike stopped in front of them.

Senior inspector Ramesh Khadkare said, "The two started asking them what they were doing this late in the night and gathered other details about the duo. Micky and his friend thought they were policemen and answered their questions."

However, in a few minutes, the duo brandished a knife and asked them to take out their valuables. The robbers hit them in the stomach and chest before fleeing. "They got away with Patel's gold chain, ring and cash, including foreign currency. They also stole Sonawne's expensive watch. A total of cash and valuables worth Rs1.31 lakh were robbed from the two," added Khadkare.

Patel and Sonawne immediately approached the Amboli police and lodged a complaint of robbery. "We will be scanning the CCTV footage of the complex and areas nearby. We are also questioning the locals and trying to prepare a sketch of the two accused, based on the victims' description," said Khadkare.
