Duo held for theft, Rs 16 lakh worth valuables seized

Two persons were arrested on Sunday for a theft they committed four years back at Nalasopara in 2012. They were identified as David Mohan Valmiki (35) and Feroz (35).

After breaking into the house of Seema Pednekar, a resident of Shree Prastha in Nalasopara west, they flew to Delhi in the evening. Areas in Mumbai, Thane, Vasai and Virar were also some of their potential targets for robberies.

"They did odd jobs in Delhi, managed to purchase properties and posed as a businessman in front of their family members", said a Local Crime Branch officers.

"We soon tracked their behaviour after an insider tipped us off about their involvement in several thefts", said the officers.

"After Arresting them, a total of 16 cases have been cracked and we have recovered valuables worth Rs 16.7 lakh. They are also involved in similar crimes in other regions", said the officers.

"Their modus operandi was to break into houses in broad daylight. They took a flight to Delhi after stealing for selling and came back again to work at Bhayander to show their normal routine", said Prashant Langi, Assistant Inspector, Palghar Local Crime Branch.

"We have arrested the duo under section 454 (house breaking) and 380(theft) of the Indian Penal Code and they have been remanded into police custody. More such cases will get solved as per our suspection.", said Langi.
