Dr TP Lahane, on Tuesday approached the sessions court seeking anticipatory bail in the Prevention of Atrocities (scheduled castes and scheduled tribes) Act 1989 case registered against him in the JJ Marg police station.
In his application, Dr Lahane has claimed that he was innocent and was falsely being implicated. According to him, the complainant had made up the case with the intention of taking revenge against him. He has claimed that he himself belonged to a nomadic tribe (Vanjhari Samaj) and hence he would never use such words or intentionally insult a low caste person.
The court will hear the arguments in the case on February 20.
