The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has told the Special TADA court that the deceased 1993 blast convict Mustafa Dossa had paid Rs 25,000 to Assistant Police Inspector (API) Ayaz Patel for allowing one Shabina Khatri to accompany him in a train travel from Mumbai to Porbandar, while eight policemen left them alone in the compartment and guarded them from outside. The said facts were brought before the court by CBI Special Prosecutor Deepak Salvi on Wednesday while reading out an inquiry report filed by the police.

On December 25, 2016, Dossa was escorted by the police to Porbandar for attending a court case filed against him. Dossa, in his statement has mentioned that on days when Khatri used to come to the court to meet him, he used to grease Patel’s palms with Rs 2,000 for per visit.

According to Advocate Salvi an earlier statement recorded by Dossa has mentioned that he asked his men to pay Rs 25,000 to API Patel to make an arrangement that will allow him to accompany Khatri during a train journey from Mumbai to Porbandar. The money was for the police escorts as well.

As per the prosecution, the marriage certificate which Khatri used to show to the Jailor for allowing her to meet Dossa was a fake one, as she never gave a copy of the same to the Jailor.

In the court, Salvi also read the statement of co-accused, Firoz Khan, who is also awarded with death sentence in the 1993 blast case. Firoz’s statement stated that on two or three occasions he had seen women being brought to the court specifically to meet Dossa.

“It is clear that the signatures were forged and that Dossa and Khatri were not married,” Deepak Salvi, CBI Special Prosecutor.
