The Bombay High Court on Wednesday directed the Mumbai Police to defer from filing a chargsheet against actors Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh and others until February 9, when the court is likely to hear a bunch of petitions seeking quashing of FIR for their alleged involvement in the AIB roast case.

The 14 people have been allegedly booked in an obscenity case for being present at the AIB roast show held in Worli, last year. They have challenged the case and sought to quash the proceedings after a FIR was filed in Mumbai based on a private complaint filed by one Santosh Daundkar.
The FIR has been filed under sections 292 (distribution of obscene content or lascivious or appeals to the prurient interest), section 294 (Obscene Act in public place) of the Indian Penal Code and section 67a of IT Act (Publishing or transmitting of material containing sexually explicit act, etc. in electronic form).
The court has also asked the state government to file its reply to the petitions, which seeks to quash the complaints. The Tardeo police station has registered a case primarily against 14 people, including
the president of the National Sports Club of India (NSCI) Jayantilal Shah, NSCI general secretary Ravinder Aggarwal, organisers of the AIB Roast, Karan Johar, Ranveer Singh, Rohan Joshi, Tanmay Bhat, Gursimran Khamba, Ashish Shakya, Aditi Mittal, Deepika Padukone, Alia Bhatt, Rajeev Masand and Arjun Kapoor.
