Does infamous bookie have connections with BJP man?

The letter alleges that the two cases against Jaisinghani are bogus and were registered by DCP Amar Jadhav for revenge. "He illegally detained my entire family in a hotel for an entire day. The inquiry for this case is going on under Rakesh Mariaji," the letter adds.

At a time when notorious fugitive bookie Anil Jaisinghani is already in trouble with the Gujarat High Court for submitting forged documents, connections are now emerging between him and BJP general secretary and MLA in Madhya Pradesh Assembly Kailash Vijayvargiya, who hit the headlines for calling actor Shah Rukh Khan a 'deshdrohi' and 'desh virodhi' in a series of tweets, which he later retracted in November last year.

This connection can be clearly seen in Jaisinghani's petition seeking transit bail from the Bombay High Court. On the run since the two non-bailable warrants under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act were issued against him, Jaisinghani was granted transit bail on October 27, 2015 by the HC on the grounds of his wife Karishma's ill health.

On page 65 of the bail petition, there is a letter received by Vijavargiya on September 2, 2015. It is written by Jaisinghani's law student daughter Aniksha to the BJP general secretary. The way it requests reinstatement of police protection "again", in a familiar tone, suggests that the protection from the Fadnavis government was done at Vijayvarigya's behest.

The letter to Vijayvargiya says that Jaisinghani "has been helping the police department for the past 30 years and has received letters of appreciation for the same." It adds: "My father helped the police crack down on big bookies, dance bars, clubs, cocaine, other drugs etc."

The letter alleges that the two cases against Jaisinghani are bogus and were registered by DCP Amar Jadhav for revenge. "He illegally detained my entire family in a hotel for an entire day. The inquiry for this case is going on under Rakesh Mariaji," the letter adds.

The scene described in the letter then shifts to the CM's residence, Varsha. "A Mr Pathankar at the CM's house is the one who has created a misunderstanding in the CM against us," the letter states, adding: "Therefore, I humbly request your good self to please instruct the honourable CM Devendra Fadnavisji to take the necessary action against DCP Amar Jadhav and grant us police protection again (sic)."

While Vijayvargiya did not respond to several text messages and calls that dna made to him, Fadnavis denied there was any communication to him from his party general secretary relating to Jaisinghani's protection. "No such letter (recommending protection for Anil Jaisinghani) was written to me," he said in reply to a text message adding, "I will check..."

A copy of the letter, which assiduously avoids raising the six cases of half-murder, extortion, intimidation and fraud that Jaisinghani has against him, is with dna.
