dna's eco-friendly Ganesha is back

The dna Eco Ganesha is back for the fifth consecutive year. With Lord Ganesha all set to enter this city and bless his beloved fans with wisdom and prosperity, this initiative of dna encourages millions of Mumbaikars to be more responsible towards their environment and welcome the lord in an eco friendly manner
Like last year, this year too, the theme will be based on “Panch Mahabhooth” – the five great elements of nature. Lord Ganesha is also known as Lord of Nature and its preserver. Therefore, through this initiative, dna wants to signify the importance of respecting the five great elements of nature. Through this theme, dna will emphasize on the need to care for the five great elements that are air (vayu), water (jal), fire (agni, sky (aakash), and earth (bhoomi). 

Highlights to look out for in dna's 'Eco Ganesha 2014'
1.dna Eco Ganesha Awards
– Like previous years, one of the key highlight of dna Eco Ganesha this year is to encourage housing societies and individuals indulge in an eco friendly celebrations, by asking them to participate in the dna Eco Ganesha Awards which is becoming bigger year on year. While more than 600 entries were received last year, the participations are expected to be more this year. Both housing societies and individual households, who use eco friendly material in their Ganesha idol as well as decoration, can send in pictures of their eco friendly celebrations and selected entries will be awarded at a glittering award ceremony. For details, interested individuals as well as society members can send email to ecoganesha@dnaindia.net with subject – Eco Ganesha Awards 2014 and dna will get back with all the requisite information.

2.Mall Darshan –Ganesha idols made of Clay will be placed in 5 popular malls across Mumbai (Fun Republic-Andheri west, Oberoi Mall - Goregaon east, Viviana Mall -Thane west, R-City Mall -Ghatkopar west and Raghuleela Mega Mall -Kandivali west) will commence the eco-friendly celebrations on August 29. The mall darshan will also have workshops and other engagements.

3.Big Eco Ideas – Invite Eco ideas on how they can help the environment and also have an environment friendly celebration. best ones will be featured in dna apart from standing a chance to win award

4. Beach Clean Up drive – a logical extension , where dna in association with NGOs clean up the Juhu beach after the main visarjan day. dna readers can also volunteer for the beach clean drive.
