On October 17, dna had published a report, "Grant Road station platform gets shoddy renovation". After reading it, railway officials swung into action and took remedial measures. The very next day, floor tiles were laid in the 50-60-metre patch that had only been levelled with cement concrete mixture.

This is a busy exit/entry point in Grant Road station frequented by most of the passengers. It leads in two directions—towards Grant Road market, and the south end side, which is connected to BMC flyover bridge.

One of the railway station staff said: "After the report appeared in dna, there was fear among all officials concerned as wrong doing had been unearthed by media."

He added: "There were even whispers that vigilance department officials had visited the site for verification and inquired with officials. All officials concerned got together immediately to seek remedial measures. The contractor was called and tiles were laid overnight after removing the cement concrete mixture."
