dna had unveiled a first-of-its-kind reader engagement initiative dna hunt for the next bestseller. The initiative, partnered by one of India's leading publishing houses, Hachette India, presented aspiring authors an opportunity to exhibit their creativity. The shortlisted stories were judged by a power-packed jury featuring Hachette India authors Krishna Udayasankar, Swati Kaushal and Tuhin Sinha.
After receiving an overwhelming response to the hunt, dna and Hachette India on Thursday announced the winners — Sanjiv Nair, Sukanya Venkatraghavan and Nikita Deshpande.
"Selecting the winner was not an easy task. The shortlisted entries revealed a wealth of ideas and creativity and some really engaging writing. We're extremely excited that in the coming months we'll be publishing an excellent noir-thriller set in Kolkata (Sanjiv Nair), a fun and quirky love story set in the world of publishing that takes place in the Jaipur Lit Fest (Nikita Deshpande), and an intriguing fantasy with a Yakshi as its protagonist (Sukanya Venkatraghavan). A lot of great reading to look forward to!" said Poulomi Chatterjee, managing editor, Hachette India.
Winners will sign their contracts with Hachette India and the books will be published this year.
