Despite losing both parents and facing several hardships at a young age, Sachin Deore, a resident of Satana Taluka in Nasik, has reached a personal milestone. By securing 92.20 per cent in the Class 10 board examinations, Sachin has made his entire village proud.

Sachin lost both his parents due to a prolonged illness — his father died in 2006 when he was in Class 1, while mother died in 2008. After their demise, Sachin's 75-year-old grandmother Vimlabai has played the role of his guardian.

From the age of four, when most children his age were busy playing, Sachin started working at a local grocery shop to make ends meet.

"After my parents died, my grandmother has been my sole guardian. I had to juggle studies and work. I would work from morning till evening, barring a short break for school. After that, I would supply milk to a few households in the village to earn extra money. I would study at night," he added.

Sachin attributes his success to his teachers at VPN Vidyalaya in Satana, and his well wishers from the village who taught him for free. "I could not afford to take tuition. A few locals from the village volunteered to teach me for free. I am grateful to them".

Despite achieving a high score, Sachin has been confronted by another hurdle — his dream of becoming a chartered accountant may get derailed due to a cash crunch.

"It has always been my dream to become a CA. But the expenses involved are very high. I cannot afford to fund my own education," he said.

Sachin's grandmother hopes a few good Samaritans sponsor his education.
