Tejasvini Tarte’s story is one of sheer grit and determination. Tarte, a resident of Latur, Maharashtra, scored 98.20 per cent in her class 10 board exams despite the hardships that came her way.

When Tejasvini was barely a year-and-a-half old, she lost her father to blood cancer. Her mother Meena had to shoulder the responsibility of her two daughters, Tejasvini and Vaishali. To make ends meet, Meena worked as a house help. After working in seven to eight homes, Meena manages to earn Rs 5,000 a month, making it difficult for the family to take care of their expenses.

Tejasvini has been helping out in every way she can. Despite the obstacles, she has managed to get an impressive score but is now worried about financing her further education.

“I am really happy that I could manage such a good score. I used to help my mother at work and would hardly get any time to study. However, I was determined to give my best in the time that I got and worked hard,” she says. Tejasvini attributes her success to her family’s hardships, and the efforts of Satish and Savita Narhare of Dnyanprakash Vidyaniketan School, who took care of her studies. “I did not take any tuition as we could not afford it. But my school taught me very well,” she added.

Tejasvini now wishes to become a doctor and treat poor patients. “My father died as he did not get timely help. I do not want anymore patients to suffer like him,” she says. Her mother is both happy and worried of her aspirations. “We are happy that she wants to become a doctor but her dream can only become true if we get some financial help,” said her mother.
