dna Auto Expo kicks off with 6,500 visitors on day one

The 4th edition of dna Auto Expo, powered by Zeegnition, got off to a blockbuster start with almost 6,500 walk-ins on day one.

The two-day event, which started on Saturday, saw celebrities like Shilpa Shetty, Harman Baweja and Rashmi Desai visiting the event. The event saw a lot of enthusiasm with visitors walking in and checking out a variety of cars, including sports cars and super bikes.

Around 23 exhibitors are participating at the Auto Expo, which is expected to witness a huge turnout today (Sunday), the last day of the expo. Leading manufacturers including, Maruti Suzuki, Renault India, General Motors, Tata Motors, Nissan India, BMW India, Mercedes Benz India, Honda Cars India, Hyundai displayed their cars, while Honda Two wheelers, Harley Davidson and Yamaha India displayed their bikes.

Talking about her experience at the dna Auto Expo, Shilpa Shetty said, "My husband is a big car freak and the dna Auto Expo is the one-stop place to buy any car."

All the latest launches like Maruti Celerio, Honda's new City, Tata Motors Nano Twist, Renault Duster, Datsun Go, received great response from the visitors.

Private car renting company Club Torque, which is into renting of sports cars also displayed their cars. "Last year we participated in the dna Auto Expo and received a positive feedback. This year too the response was very encouraging," said Jaidev from Club Torque.

Mechanical engineering students from Veermata Jijabai Technological Institute (VJTI) showcased their All Terrain Vehicle (ATV) concept at the Auto Expo. The ATV has been developed by 22 students of VJTI at a cost of Rs2.5 lakh. The vehicle became one of the highlights of the event as crowds gathered to get a better look at it. The VJTI team had ranked number one in Mumbai and 36th in India of the total 125 teams participating in the Baja SAE, an intercollegiate event organised by the Society of Automotive Engineers.
