So far, 52 people have been arrested for their involvement in the Diva agitation, but the police are still scouring the CCTV footage as around 40 main accused, ie those leading the mob, are absconding. Officers are keeping a watch at Thane, Diva, Kalwa, Mumbra and Dombivli railway stations in order to nab the accused at the earliest.

The police said they suspect the culprits are hiding out at their relatives homes.

An officer from Thane railway police said, "We are working harder than before to nab these people as a lot of railway property was damaged and nearly Rs1 lakh was robbed from railway office, but there hasn't been any recovery yet. We are also keeping a tab on the serial numbers of the coupons that were stolen in the mayhem, so that we'll know immediately if anyone uses them. We have informed booking counter staff at other railway stations to do the same."

"The police have done a good job so far... the accused should be given strict punishment as because of them the whole thing cascaded into nearly four days of inconvenience for others," said a Thane resident.
