The state government will be sending directives to audit the disaster management preparedness of all prominent places of worship in the state. Chief minister Devendra Fadnavis informed the Legislative Assembly about the same on Wednesday.

Fadnavis was replying to a question raised by Solapur MLA Pranati Shinde when discussion on Pandharpur Wari was going on.

"There are lakhs of people who come to Pandharpur for the Yatra. There is the issue of fire safety, medical facilities to be provided, facilities for senior citizens and differently abled, among others. Will the government have measures in place for the same. Will there be wheel chairs for senior citizens and other facilities," said Shinde.

In his reply, Fadnavis said, "It is a good effort that has been taken up by the member of the House. Directives will be given to audit the disaster preparedness of prominent places of worship in state. That will include the fire safety measures, medical facilities to be given, traffic and other security measures." He added that particular care would be taken at places of worship that are run by the state appointed management.

The issue had come up during the calling attention motion on facilities provided at Pandharpur during Ashadi Ekadashi. The chief minister informed the House that treated water will be released in the river there and an integrated project is being readied to ensure that it will be put in place.

Answering another question on disturbance created during the live relay of the aarti, he said that VVIPs going there will be made to wait when the chief minister performs the aarti of Lord Vithoba.
