The Dindoshi police have launched a manhunt for a 21-year-old labourer who allegedly murdered his employer early on Saturday over unpaid dues amounting to Rs 10,000. The incident took place in a chawl in Malad (East) after the two had a tiff as the accused had not been paid his salary for months. The accused is believed to be a native of West Bengal.

According to the Dindoshi police, Subashish Gharai alias Kali had rented a room in Santosh Nagar to carry out his business of imitation jewellery. Gharai would bring labourers from West Bengal to work with him and the accused, Abhisekh Mayti, was one of them.

An officer from Dindoshi police station said, "These labourers were brought from West Bengal and employed for a year. We are not sure whether Mayti was not paid for a year, but during the investigation we came to know that Gharai owned Mayti Rs 10,000. Mayti wanted the money on an urgent basis, because of which Mayti and Gharai got into an argument. Mayti then hit Gharai on the head with a water pipe and fled."

The police have registered a case of murder under section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code and are on searching for the accused.
