The grand annual celebration of Durga Puja organised by North Bombay Sarbojanin Durga Puja Samity saw a lot of devotees visiting the pandal at Hotel Tulip Star, Juhu to seek blessings of the deity on the day of Maha Shasti on Monday.

Tuesday evening saw a theatre night wherein Paromita Sarkar and her troupe performed a Bengali dance drama.
The North Bombay Sarbojanin Durga Puja is in its 67th year and the theme this year is of the famous Meenakshi temple. Devotees will be served bhog in an air-conditioned hall on October 20, 21 and 22.

Dusshera will be celebrated on October 22 (Maha Novomi and Maha Dashami) wherein Durga Maa's idol (17 ft x 30 ft) will be immersed at Juhu beach with the help of a huge crane. North Bombay Sarbojanin Durga Puja's visarjan is known to be a spectacular experience for the viewers. Prior to the visarjan, the ladies will gather for the Sindoor Utsav.
The Mukerji family's Durga Puja is a non-profit organisation which is involved in various charitable causes through its vast and distinguished member base. The trust was founded in 1948 by Sasadhar Mukerji of Bombay Talkies — a well-known Hindi films producer, a Padma Shri Awardee and the one who is described as the founder of Filmistan and Filmalaya Studios — along with JM Bhadra and other family members and like-minded people of the Santa Cruz area. The founding committee consisted of 26 members, led by Sasadhar Mukerji as its president. Today, Deb Mukerji is the secretary of North Bombay Sarbojanin Durga Puja. Over the years, the trust's followers has expanded to more than 50,000 and voluntary work by these dedicated members keeps the organisation committed to its primary objectives.
