While the Sunday night dinner meeting between chief minister Devendra Fadnavis and Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray was being termed a courtesy call by both sides, it is now being revealed that the leaders took a final call regarding appointments in various corporations. Fadnavis has sought Sena's help for smooth running of both Houses of state legislature during the Monsoon session, which began on Monday.

After Fadnavis went for the dinner meet with Thackeray, several eyebrows were raised, since he became the first BJP minister to visit Matoshree – Thackeray's residence. Sena sources said Fadnavis had met Uddhav to seek the party's support in the state legislature to get crucial Bills passed in the monsoon session. The state has scheduled 10 Bills for passage in the lower House while three Bills are waiting clearance from the upper House.

The Sena source added that the state was likely to announce the distribution of various statutory and state-run corporations between the allies soon. The Sena is said to be eager to get its men in important corporations such as CIDCO and MHADA.

So far, the BJP-Sena government has allocated positions in only a handful of bodies, such as the State Women's Commission (former Aurangabad mayor and BJP leader Vijaya Rahatkar), State Minority Commission (former revenue minister Eknath Khadse's close aide Aamir Saheb), Maharashtra Urdu Academy (Khadse's associate Rauf Khan) and the textile corporation (Ravikant Tupkar, an associate of the Swabhimani Shetkari Sanghatana chief and BJP ally Raju Shetti).

Meanwhile, following the chief minister's suit, minister for parliamentary affairs Girish Bapat also held a meeting with senior Sena Ministers. Bapat told dna that he discussed floor management with Sena minister Diwakar Raote and others, since the treasury benches do not enjoy majority in the legislative council and that is the reason floor management becomes crucial.
