Uran terror alert led to unexpected holiday to several south Mumbai school kids, including chief minister Devendra Fadnavis' daughter Divija.

Messages of terrorists being spotted by school kids in Uran went viral on Thursday night, leading to state agencies issuing alert in Mumbai and other sensitive areas. Massive combing operations and nakabandis added fuel to fire and a few schools in South Mumbai decided to give a day off to their students on Friday. One of those students was Divija who studies in Cathedral and John Connon school. What's more, her mother Amruta Fadnavis didn't know why the school had decided to give a holiday.

The rumor spread in such a way on whatsapp that not only did it force a couple of schools to remain run on Friday but also developed an anxiety among parents living in South Mumbai area. However, nothing as been proved in the police investigation so far.

"Most of the parents living in this area were scared after a message started circulating on whatsapp that a terrorist has been spotted near naval base in Uran. We came to know that Cathedral and John Connon School is closed for security reasons, so we were wondering whether ours will also be close. But when we came to know it was not we were hesitant to send our kid to school. My son was suppose to attend some conference in World Trade Centre and I was hesitant to send him there as well. I called up couple of police numbers just to confirm whether its safe to send a child out but they didn't give a clear answer, so we were confused. Although many didn't their kids to school for safety reasons, but there was tight security outside the schools," said Swati Jajodia, parent of a student from BD Somani International School and also a resident of south Mumbai.

"Our schools were not close, but a couple of schools were shit in south Mumbai area for security purpose. We anyway did not make it compulsory for the kids to attend school on Friday," added Cuffe Parade ex-principal and director of GD Somani school.

"Our school is located at a junction and lot of police patrolling was happening in our area so we decided to remain close on Friday for security purpose," said Freny Mehta, principal of The Alexandra Girls' English Institution, South Mumbai.
