Swabhimani Party president and Lok Sabha MP Raju Shetti has criticised chief minister Devendra Fadnavis who visited Baramati on Friday. Shetti has said that it would create doubts in the mind of the common man as the chief minister shared dais with Ajit Pawar, against whom an inquiry is on.

Fadnavis was on a half-day Baramati to inaugurate an agriculture exhibition. Speaking to dna, Shetti said that it is hard to believe that the chief minister did not discuss politics with NCP supremo Sharad Pawar during their meeting.

Prime minister Narendra Modi had tongues rolling when he visited Baramati on February 14 this year. After his visit it was Union finance minister Arun Jaitley who was in Pawar's stronghold on October 17. As if following this two visits by the BJP leaders, Fadnavis made his presence felt in Baramati on Friday. None of the BJP leaders are coming on record on this issue and they maintain that there is no point in deriving any political meaning from every action of Fadnavis.

Shetti stated that despite the chief minister's visit to Baramati his organisation would keep fighting against Pawar who is backing all those involved in massive corruption in cooperatives and sugar factories. Shetti added that it was for Pawar to explain as to why he invited Fadnavis to Baramati when he himself had criticised that the chief minister did not know anything about agriculture.

Shetti also said that when his government was conducting an inquiry against Ajit Pawar regarding the irrigation scam, it was not proper on the part of chief minister to visit Baramati. Alleging that Sharad Pawar is known for not keeping his words, Shetti said it was difficult for Swabhimani Party to know with what purpose chief minister was sharing the dais with former deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar.

When contacted, Dr Kumar Saptarshi, former MLA and founder of Yuvak Kranti Dal of the Emergency days way back in 1975, said that it is usual that Pawar always keeps ambiguity prevailing about his next step in politics. Saptarshi, who is Pawar's contemporary, added that Pawar is known for his uncertainty and never does things which he spells out. In fact, Saptarshi said: "Pawar does exactly the opposite after he says something."
