Despite being in pain Vinayak Chavan (16), a resident of Panvel and a student of New English High School, is all set to appear for his Secondary School Certificate (SSC) board examination from Thursday. Chavan met with an accident while traveling back home on his bicycle from coaching classes fracturing his right wrist and also injuring his chin.

The incident happened on Saturday when Chavan was going back home from his coaching classes on his bicycle. “When the incident happened, I did not realise the seriousness of the injuries. But on the next day, the injured parts of my body started swelling. Hence, I went to the hospital for check-up on Monday. That is when I got to know that my wrist had fractures and my chin needed four stitches. My exams were on my head. My elder brother encouraged me to appear for board exams with the help of a writer. So I rushed to apply for a writer.”

Chavan came with this mother on Wednesday to the Mumbai division board office with the application for a writer. He managed to get one, who is a junior from his school.

Subhash Borse, secretary, Mumbai Division Board, said, “There are also many such students who send applications for writers with their pictures attached with it. We verify the medical reports and give them permission.”
