Depressed woman kills her 82-year-old father in Mumbai

A 33-year-old woman, who was suffering from depression for the past several years, killed her 82-year-old father in Dombivli on Tuesday.

According to the police, the unfortunate incident took place at Mahatma Phule Nagar in Dombivli on Tuesday around 9pm when the deceased, Anand Govind Nayar, was sleeping with his wife Yashoda, 70.

Suddenly, the accused started beating her father and dragged him out of the bed. The victim was lying on the floor and could not move to save himself. Yashoda tried to stop her daughter but she was pushed away, said the police.

Yoshoda then called her neighbour for help. However, it was too late. Anand was bleeding profusely and he succumbed to his injuries.

The accused was arrested after Yashoda lodged a complaint with the Vishnu Nagar police.

"The accused is mentally unstable. She is not aware of things," a police officer from the Vishnu nagar police station said. The accused has been booked under Section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code.
