In a state of depression because of her long illness, a 45-year-old housewife took her own life by jumping off the 13th floor of her building in Kandivli East. The incident happened in an SRA building located in Hanuman Nagar where she was residing with her family. The deceased, Kaushikya Deshmukh, was suffering from tuberculosis for over seven years and was mentally disturbed about it, said police. The Samta Nagar police station has registered a case of accidental death.

Before dawn on Sunday, Deshmukh came out of her 13th floor house when her husband and two children were asleep in the bedroom. "She came to the common gallery after locking the main door and jumped off the building. She had not left any suicide note," said Ravindra Patil, senior police inspector with Samta Nagar police station.

The watchman of the building and residents found her in a pool of blood, after which they informed her family. Although she was rushed to the hospital, she was declared dead before admission. The police was informed immediately.

Further inquiries with the family revealed that the deceased had been suffering from TB and was mentally disturbed about it. "According to her family, she had been undergoing treatment for the last seven years, because of which she was under severe depression," added Patil. He said that no foul play is suspected.

She is survived by her husband and two children, aged 12 and 15. Her husband works as a furniture repairman.
