Demands of Koyna Dam Project Affected Persons to be met in 3 months

The Koyna Dam project affected persons (PAP) will be relieved to learn that the state government has decided to prepare a plan within the next three months to fulfil their pending demands.

The water sports and allied activities of almost 100 villages around Koyna Dam and backwater areas will resume once again as the state government is to take a decision in this regard soon. 

The Koyna Dam project affected persons (PAP) will be relieved to learn that the state government has decided to prepare a plan within the next three months to fulfil their pending demands. 

Chief spokesperson of  BJP state unit Madhav Bhandari said that there were representatives from 8 to 9 organisations of PAP who met Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. Minister for revenue and rehabilitation Chandrakant Patil, Minister of state for water resources Vijay Shivtare, MLA Shambhuraje Desai, Lok Sabha MP from Satara Udayanraje Bhosale, activist Bharat Patankar were present for the meeting. Bhandari informed that the water sports and allied activities in the vicinity of Koyna Dam were stopped after a circular by Home department citing security of the dam and it would now be permitted by keeping security zone up to 6 kms from the dam wall. 

Bhandari informed that it was decided in the meeting that a task force would be constituted and it would be presided over by Satara district collector. He informed that the task force would prepare final statistics in three months. Bhandari informed that whether it is Koyna or Dhom, Kanher or Wang Marathwadi dam the Government has decided  to sort out all the pending issues by 2019. 

The Project affected persons would be provided with alternative land or money as per their choice and their Gavthans or localities would be notified as Gavthans and all the civic amenities would be provided to them.
