Delhi: Special Cell DCP Sanjeev Kumar Yadav bags record ninth gallantry award

Among them a name, Sanjeev Kumar Yadav who is currently holding the charge of DCP, Special Cell needs no introduction.

Five Delhi Police officers have been awarded the police medal for gallantry for displaying exemplary courage and nabbing hardened wanted criminals. Among them a name, Sanjeev Kumar Yadav who is currently holding the charge of DCP, Special Cell needs no introduction. It is Yadav's ninth gallantry award, a record which no police officer in the country holds.

Yadav along with his team members including Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Lalit Mohan Negi, ACP Hridaya Bhushan, ACP Ramesh Chander Lamba and Sub-Inspector Sukhbir Singh had in October 2013 gunned down gangster Neetu Dabodia and two of his associates in and encounter in South Delhi. 

Dabodia was Delhi's top 10 most wanted gangsters and was involved in over 50 cases of murder, extortion, kidnapping and carried a reward of a lakh on him.

A 1998 batch DANIPS officer Yadav has been posted with the Special cell since 2004. From the Batla House encounter to gunning down criminals in Sonia Vihar, he has led his team and made sure the list of Most wanted gangsters is reduced. Recently his team had also gunned down Rajesh Bharti and three of his associates in a shootout in Delhi. Bharti the kingpin of Kranti gang carried a reward of a lakh on his name and was the most wanted gangster in the National Capital.
