A defamation case has been registered against Rahul Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi, Sitaram Yechury and the Communist Party of India in connection with the death of senior journalist Gauri Lankesh. The complainant has pled the court to investigate the matter under the defamation charges.

Advocate Dhrutiman Joshi, in his complaint to the Metropolitan Magistrate, mentioned that he came across the defamatory remarks made by Rahul Gandhi which also represented in the sentiments of Sonia Gandhi. "Anybody who speaks against the ideology of BJP, RSS, then that person is pressured, attacked and even killed. Even Yechury, who is a senior CPI leader was heard and seen saying that it was the RSS ideology and RSS men who killed the journalist," read the allegations levelled by the advocate.

While explaining his view, advocate Joshi said, "As he was a grassroots worker of RSS, he was humiliated and defamed in public and thus he filed a case against the four." He added that the matter is adjourned for hearing on October 27.
