After concerts by international DJ David Guetta were cancelled in Bengaluru on Thursday and in Mumbai the following day, the Sunburn event organisers finally received some good news on Saturday, with the Mumbai Police granting them permission to organise the event at Jio Garden in Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC) on Sunday.

The Mumbai Police, however, will have its task cut out to on Sunday as it will not only have to make security arrangements for the Sunburn event from 11 am to 4 pm, but also for the Standard Chartered Mumbai Marathon earlier in the day. According to the police, while there will be heavy police deployment in Bandra west for the marathon, there will be simultaneous police deployment in BKC, senior police officers said.

"We have given permission to Sunburn to organise the event at BKC on Sunday. Adequate bandobast and security arrangements will be made for both the marathon and the Sunburn event, as large crowds are expected for both these events," said Joint Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) Deven Bharti.

Guetta's concert in Bengaluru was cancelled on Thursday over law and order concerns. Later on the same day, Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) had denied permission for the Sunburn Arena event to be organised at Mahalaxmi Racecourse. The concert was altogether called off hours before it was scheduled to begin on Friday after the Mumbai Police turned down a request for an alternate venue at Jio Garden in BKC.

Mumbai police had cited non-completion of mandatory requirements and legal formalities to reject the permission for the event proposed at BKC on Friday. The police had said that in order to host such mega events, permissions from various departments such as BMC, PWD, District Collector, Traffic, local police, and Excise (in case liquor is being served) are required.

In a statement issued on Friday night, however, Sunburn organiers had stated that they would be complying with all the regulatory requirements as prescribed by the authorities and that the tickets that were already sold would be valid for a rescheduled show on Sunday.

Karan Singh, CEO, Sunburn had said in a statement, "The David Guetta Sunburn Arena show in New Delhi on the 15th and Hyderabad on the 14th will take place as originally planned. The venue for New Delhi is Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium while the venue for Hyderabad is Hitex Exhibition Center."
